Pre-Hospital Emergency Anaesthesia Course
The April Pre-Hospital Emergency Anaesthesia Course runs for two days, providing practical simulated scenarios working with both ambulance and fire and rescue services.
We welcome clinicians from all over the world to our training courses and our aim is to arm participants with the skills they need to thrive in this complex and challenging area of patient care. We strongly believe that part of our role as a high performing service should be the dissemination of knowledge and skills to others so that as many patients as possible can benefit.
Our PHEA course has been running since 2007, and was the first course of its kind in the UK. Uniquely, it is aimed at both doctors and paramedics, and puts great emphasis on the team approach to managing critically ill or injured patients.
It is widely recognised that prehospital emergency anaesthesia is an essential intervention for a small number of patients, if performed poorly however, it has the potential to worsen patient outcomes.
Held three times a year, the course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills required to work within a well-governed organisation that delivers pre-hospital anaesthesia.
