Our lottery is a fun and easy way of supporting your local air ambulance.

Between April 2021 and March 2022, the GNAAS weekly lottery raised more than ยฃ750,000 to support our charitable activities. We have compiled some of our frequently asked questions for you below.

What is the lottery?

The GNAAS lottery is a fun way of raising funds for your air ambulance. Players register to play from just ยฃ1 a week and are entered into a draw on Wednesdays.

How can I play the lottery?

The lottery costs just ยฃ1 per chance per week, and players can sign up for multiple chances (to a maximum of 15 a week). We offer a range of payment methods to suit everyone – monthly or annual Direct Debits, card payments or cheques. You can register online, by phone on 0800 1777 035 or by post – find the form on the joining page. Once signed up, we will send you your numbers.

Where do the lottery proceeds go?

The lottery provides vital funding for the service. All of the profits go directly to the charity. In fact, lottery players raise 12 per cent of the ยฃ6.7m needed to run the service annually.

Can I choose my number?

Your unique play number is automatically generated and allocated to you. We limit each player to a maximum of 15 play numbers.

What are the prizes?

There are 4 guaranteed prizes every Friday: 1 x ยฃ1,000, 1 x ยฃ50, 2 x ยฃ25. If you win we automatically send your cheque out in the post. You can also check your number on our winning number page each week.

What happens if I win?

Am I eligible to play?

You need to be 18 or over to play. An age verification check is in place on sign up. You also need to be a UK resident.

Why does a Direct Debit start from ยฃ4.34 a month?

As some months have four weeks and some have five weeks, this ensures your play number is entered each week and the payment is averaged out across the year.

Can I play the lottery as well as give a general donation?

Yes, when joining online there is a section on top up donations. These are donations surplus to your lottery payment. If you have already set up your payment let us know and we can ensure the payment is applied how you would like.

How much does the lottery raise for the Great North Air Ambulance Service?

Between April 2021 and March 2022, the GNAAS weekly lottery raised ยฃ759,991 to support charitable activities representing 87% of the total income raised. Four per cent was allocated to expenses and nine per cent to the prize fund.

Can you claim gift aid on my lottery play?

No, raffle/lottery payments are not eligible for gift aid. However, any additional donations with your lottery payment are eligible for gift aid.

What are the odds to win?

How are the winning numbers determined?

Winning numbers are selected using a Random Number Generator within Donorflex, by Care Data Systems. The system has been verified by the Centre for Advanced Software Technology (CAST) for fairness and compliance with applicable sections of the Gambling Commissionโ€™s Technical Standards. All play numbers with at least 50p credit are entered into the draw.
