When you take on Great North Abseil, we’ll support you every step of the way.
You will receive a free GNAAS t-shirt to wear as you make your way down the turbine, as well as expert instructors on the day to help you through the abseil. All of your equipment will be provided for you on the day, so you can concentrate on your experience and taking in the awesome views around you.

Why take on Great North Abseil?

It takes great courage to take the step off a wind turbine. Whether you do it for your own personal achievement or just to help us raise critical funds, one thing is for certain, you’ll love every second.
Can I wear a GoPro?
Yes! GoPro’s can be worn during your abseil.
Is there an age limit?
The minimum age to abseil at this event is 14. Under 18โs MUST have a parent or legal guardian to accompany them on the day of the abseil.
Is there parking available?
Yes, you’ll be able to part on site for our Great North Abseil event in the North East.
How much do I need to raise?
For this event, you will have a sponsorship target of ยฃ250 to raise for our life-saving service.
Is there any equipment required?
You will be required to wear Sensible closed shoes and comfortable, movable clothing. If needed, your hair should also be tied back. Other requirements are as follows:
– No jewellery
– Nothing in pockets
– No phones during your abseil (unless in a zipped pocket)
PLEASE NOTE: You will also be required to wear a snood during your abseil. You can bring your own, or if you’d like to go full GNAAS during your descent, you can purchase your own GNAAS Snood when booking your place.
