Woman knocked to the ground by a dog


At 2:50pm yesterday the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called to a woman who had been knocked to the ground by a large dog near Consett. The 80-year-old from the local area was in the middle of a field which was inaccessible by road. The patient who had suffered a suspected broken hip and was in a lot of pain, was given pain relief by the GNAAS doctor before being transported to hospital by NEAS paramedics in a land ambulance. Later, that day, at 5:30pm, GNAAS were called to a woman who had fallen while out walking at Catbells in Cumbria. The woman had sustained a head and arm injury. After an assessment at scene, the patient was assisted to the helicopter by members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team before being flown to Cumberland Infirmary.
