What to expect from our first Summer Fair

Our quarterly fairs have become quite the hit with North East locals, and our upcoming Summer Fair is the most anticipated yet. Here’s why…

On 28 August, we’ll be welcoming hundreds of locals to our HQ, and providing those rainclouds behave themselves (you know what the British weather can be like), we’ll be hosting the event outside and making use of the field opposite Progress House.

And with ‘summer’ in full swing, we know parents far and wide will be looking for something to do to keep kids occupied (hang in there, September is near!), so this is the perfect opportunity for a fun and educational day out.

So, what can you expect once you park up?

Plenty to do

Once you step out of your car, you’ll be greeted by an array of emergency response vehicles, including a fire engine, Blood Bikers, our critical care car and the police cadets. While we know the kids will love it, we also know you adults will have a few burning questions to ask too, so now’s your chance!

And, if you walk a little further down, you might even be able to catch a little peek of our heli, providing it’s not out saving lives, of course.

Throughout the day our very own critical care team will be delivering CPR sessions too, so you might want to stick around for that; you never know when it’ll come in handy!

As you wander around, you’ll also be greeted by inflatables, face painting stalls, AND, if you get there in time, you’ll be treated to some music from the iconic steel drum band, Bangshees.

If your little ones love animals, you’re in luck as we have the finest birds of prey on display; they may even be able to get the chance to give them a hold and a stroke if they’re brave enough.

You certainly won’t be bored, that’s for sure.

Tasty treats and delicious drinks

What’s a Summer Fair without ice cream? It would be rude not to get Mr Whippy in to satisfy all your ice cream needs, so be sure to bring some pocket money! And if you’re not a fan of ice cream, we have a donut stall, don’t panic.

If you have a savoury tooth, however, we’ve ordered in the trusty burger van which caters for our Bike & Classic Car Night events; trust us, the food’s delish.

And to quench your thirst, we have only the finest coffee, tea and cold drinks offered by The Barista Sisters and Viking Coffee.

Shop ‘til you drop

The North East is packed with gorgeous goodies from small local businesses, so we invited a few to come along to showcase their crafts.

You could grab a new delicate hair bow from Over the Rainbow, treat your furry friend to a new collar and lead from Wag Wear, or perhaps tap into your spiritual side with crystals from The Anam Cara – whatever you’re into, there will be a store for you and the kids.

So, if you’re free, swing by this bank holiday Monday for an exciting day, all in aid of our life-saving service.
