Rescue organisations combine when woman falls ill

Yesterday, our Pride of Cumbria helicopter was called out along with Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team when a 23-year-old woman collapsed on a footpath close on the banks of Ullswater.

Due to the location of the casualty, the Mountain Rescue Team accessed the scene with its rescue boat, using the boat to transport the Pride of Cumbria’s paramedics to the incident.

The patient was treated on scene and the rescue boat was used to transport the casualty to the aircraft which had landed on the shore in an area inaccessible by road.

She was then flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment.
