Participant hurt at mountain biking event


The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to a 54-year-old male who had fallen off his bicycle while taking part in a mountain biking event at Bassenthwaite at 12pm yesterday (Sun). The man from East Sussex was treated by GNAAS and North West Ambulance Service for facial, arm and leg injuries before being taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle by road vehicle. GNAAS operates Cumbria’s only dedicated air ambulance, the Pride of Cumbria aircraft..
