Paraglider fractures spine in Lake District crash


A paraglider fractured his spine after a crash at Hasness, Buttermere Lake, Cumbria. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 4:05pm on Saturday (May 30). The 37-year-old man, from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was taking part in an event when he crash landed in the landing field, falling around four metres. He was immobilised by the GNAAS crew and given pain relief, before being flown to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, in twelve minutes.
