Mystery ride keeps bikers guessing

Dozens of motorcyclists took part in a ‘Mystery Ride-Out’ in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service. The annual event leads participants on a trail of cafes and pubs around the area covered by GNAAS. It was organised by GNAAS volunteer Kevin Close, who waved the bikers off from the charity’s offices at Newton Aycliffe. The route, which featured clues along the way, took in the Manor Cafe at Bellerby, North Yorkshire, the Willow Tree Inn at Leeming Village, Greystones Cafe, Pickering, the Whistle Stop Cafe in Whitby and the Pit Stop Cafe in Stockton. All of the destinations are year-round supporters of GNAAS through collection tins and other events. Mr Close wished to thank everyone for supporting the event, including all who took part and all of the destinations, which provided much needed respite for the bikers as they made their journey. He added: “It was a great event, everyone enjoyed themselves and we raised money for a great cause.

This year’s event raised around £300, with more money expected to be donated in the tins at the desintations along the way.
