Making the most of your Facebook fundraiser

Firstly, happy birthday! We hope you’re surrounded by the people you care about the most on your big day, and we’re incredibly grateful you’ve chosen to fundraise for us – there truly is no better gift.

Every penny donated towards your birthday fundraiser goes directly towards our charity, as Facebook lets charities keep 100% of the money, which will help our team respond to life-threatening incidents.

We aim to keep families together across the North, so they too can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and life’s milestones, and you’re playing a significant part in our ongoing mission.

So, you’ve made it as far as setting up your fundraiser, but what do you do now? There are plenty of ways you can take your fundraising efforts to the next level by following these simple steps…

Share your story

It always helps when you make a reader feel something. Ensure you include in the fundraiser’s description why you’ve decided to raise money for us, to help your friends and family understand why it’s important to you.

Whether you’re a former patient, you know someone we airlifted, or perhaps you’re a loyal supporter of our charity, it’s great to enforce our life-saving message, and spread it far and wide.

Send it to those who care

Not all Facebook users are active on the platform, so willing donors may miss your post, especially since Facebook’s algorithm is continuously changing.

To combat this, we highly suggest you actively send your fundraiser to close friends and family, letting them know they don’t need to buy you a gift this year.

Hit the sweet spot

Don’t forget you can share the post more than once! It’s always handy to add the URL of the fundraiser to your posts, gently reminding your Facebook friends it’s still active.

If you’re posting images of a birthday meal out, drinks with your friends, or perhaps your celebratory tea party – attach the link to your post to give it another little push.

Fundraisers only last a certain length of time, so when time is running out to hit your target, that’s always a good point to send a final call post.

And that’s pretty much it! Again, we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you for thinking of us on your birthday – have a good’un.
