While many fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled, you can still support the charity from home.
We asked Deborah Gibbs, one of our fundraising assistants at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), to come up with some great ways to stay involved with the charity while doing your bit to stop the spread of the Covid-19.
When it comes to fundraising ideas – they are coming out of Debs’ ears.
Hi everyone, I’m Debs.
Although this is an isolating and difficult time for us all there are still ways you can help.
Here are some of my ideas that could really make a difference to us and you don’t even have to leave your home to do them.
It’s time to have that spring clean and have a good clear out of all those clothes lurking in the back of your wardrobe. Or, what about sorting through some DVDs, games or books? You can then do the recycling through our trading company. We also take ink cartridges as well and you can just keep the collection bags to one side until we are up and running again!
Alternatively, get selling online on Ebay and why not donate the money raised to us?
Don’t forget, if you’re buying from Amazon you can donate to GNAAS through Amazon Smile with your purchase, where 0.5% of your net shopping total (exc vat/shipping costs) can be paid to our charity.
All you need to do is sign in to Amazon Smile then select us as your chosen charity before you start shopping.
If you are among one of the unlucky people who’s not going to be able to celebrate your birthday how you would like to, then here’s an idea to enjoy your day differently…

The 2.6 Challenge
The 2.6 challenge is for ages and abilities. To join in, you need to think of any activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6. Maybe you’ll run 2.6 miles, or do yoga for 26 minutes. You might walk 2.6 miles a day or swim 26 lengths of a pool.
Whatever you choose, you need to do your activity on or from Sunday 26 April 2020.
Whatever you can do, you can be part of it – the main thing is getting active, having fun and donating whatever you can.

All you will need is a donation jar/tin and lots and lots of imagination!
Here’s a few examples to inspire you:
Get pampering and charge members of your household for beauty treatments and pop them in your donation jar.
Draw a treasure map and share it with the family in the house. Solve the clues to find the hidden chocolate treats hidden around the house and ‘charge’ your family a small fee for taking part.
Indoor obstacle course
Draw up some sponsorship forms and get competing, challenge your friends and family and see who can come up with the craziest obstacle challenge.
How is that for inspiration?!
