A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy has completed a 100-mile cycle ride in under 10 hours in support of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
Owen Newbury, from the Fens area of Hartlepool, raised £1,300 for the charity in his mammoth trek.
He set off on two 50-mile circuits starting at Dyke House Sports & Technology College, alongside his teachers, on October 1.
Owen said: “I saw the air ambulance land at a car crash and decided I just wanted to help save somebody’s life.”
Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS, said: “A huge thank you to Owen and his team for taking on this great feat in aid of the charity. Without support such as this, we would not be able to continue to provide life-saving care across our region.”
