Glitz and glamour at the charity ball

People of the North are being invited to snap up tickets for a glamorous night in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance service.

The lifesaving charity is preparing to host its annual Air Angels ball, held at the Hilton, Newcastle Gateshead.

Last year’s ball raised £22,823.25 and it is hoped that the 2020 event will raise even more money to fund the charity’s three helicopters and all-night rapid response cars.

The charity ball is hosted by ITV news presenter and charity patron Pam Royle.

The fundraiser will feature an auction, offering guests the chance to get their hands on money-can’t-buy prizes, with a three-course dinner, a raffle, exclusive gift bags, and the chance to dance the night away to a local live band.

Ruth Davey, events co-ordinator, said: “The evening promises to be extraordinarily entertaining, with a chance to dress to impress and celebrate with the crew, patients, volunteers and supporters of the charity.  As well as being a fabulous night out, the charity ball is a chance to raise money for our missions. The service is such a vital one, and the ball is a brilliant way to have fun while raising funds.”

The charity hopes to expand its rapid response vehicle service to seven nights a week, having evaluated the demand for the extended hours. Currently, the cars operate from Thursday to Sunday nights, with a doctor and paramedic on board.
