Driver suffers hypothermia after being trapped off A66


A seriously injured man, remained undiscovered for hours, after his car left a road in Cumbria. The upturned vehicle was found in a field off the A66 near Embleton at around 7am when a passer-by raised the alarm.

The upturned vehicle was found in a field off the A66 near Embleton at around 7am when a passer-by raised the alarm. It is believed the man crashed at around 1am.

The 47-year-old was treated for hypothermia, chest and pelvic injuries, by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and North West Ambulance Service paramedics.

GNAAS then flew the man to the major trauma centre at Royal Preston Hospital. The flight took 25 minutes and he arrived in a serious but stable condition.
