Elderly pedestrian hit by car at Hetton-le-Hole


AN elderly pedestrian was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car. The 77-year-old woman suffered head, arm and leg injuries after the collision at Hetton-le-Hole, Tyne and Wear, yesterday (August 30). The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 5.30pm and landed at Hetton Lyons Cricket Club. The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team assessed and treated the woman for her injuries before she was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 8 minutes, where she arrived in a stable condition. GNAAS would like to thank the cricket club who stopped their game to allow the aircraft to land on the pitch..
