Your mission as a chef
Are you passionate about great food and delivering exceptional customer experiences?
We’re looking for an experienced Chef to lead our kitchen at Hangar 63 Coffee House, based at our headquarters in Eaglescliffe. Every visit to Hangar 63 helps support the life-saving work of the Great North Air Ambulance Service, making this much more than a typical hospitality role.
You’ll lead the day-to-day kitchen operation, preparing fresh, high-quality food whilst ensuring excellent food safety standards, managing stock, supporting your team and helping us create a welcoming environment for every visitor.
If you’re an organised, creative chef who enjoys leading a team and takes pride in producing quality food, we’d love to hear from you.

About us
More than a Coffee House.
Hangar 63 is located within our charity headquarters in Eaglescliffe. We serve freshly prepared breakfasts, lunches, light bites, cakes and drinks, whilst also providing catering for meetings, conferences and events held on-site.
Every purchase helps support the charity’s mission of delivering outstanding pre-hospital emergency care across the North.
Day to day duties
As our Chef, you’ll oversee the daily running of the kitchen while ensuring every dish meets our quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
– Preparing fresh breakfasts, lunches, snacks and seasonal menu items.
– Producing hot and cold buffets for conferences and events of up to 100 delegates.
– Leading, supporting and organising the kitchen team.
– Managing kitchen rotas and helping develop team members.
– Ordering stock, managing suppliers and maintaining inventory.
– Monitoring food costs, portion control and reducing waste.
– Maintaining exceptional food hygiene, allergen compliance and health & safety standards.
– Completing food safety records, temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
– Reviewing sales performance alongside the Commercial Project Supervisor to improve menu performance and customer experience.
– Supporting the ongoing development of Hangar 63’s food offering.
This role includes occasional travel to local suppliers using a charity vehicle, so flexibility is important. Some weekend working is required as part of the rota, and occasional evening work may be needed to support conferencing or special events.
The successful applicant will also be expected to complete mandatory training and comply with all safeguarding and organisational policies.
