Tired of trick-or-treating? Give your Halloween a heart-racing twist! Join us for the Cleveland 4 Peaks: Trick or Trek, an adventure combining spine-tingling terrain with Halloween fun.

By the flicker of your headtorch, you’ll conquer four legendary peaks under the eerie glow of the moon, trekking through spooky forests and fog-kissed hilltops. It’s fitness, fundraising, and fright night, all in one unforgettable evening.

What you can expect

4 peaks. After dark. In spooky season

You’ll take on the same Cleveland 4 Peaks route you know and love, tackling Roseberry Topping, Captain Cook’s Monument, Highcliff Nab and Codhill Heights. But this time, the hills will be crawling with other costumed walkers, scary surprises, and just a dash of Halloween mischief.

Expect:

13.1 miles of eerie trails and moonlit landscapes.
Creepy climbs and thrilling descents.
Chilling checkpoints with treats (and maybe tricks).
An atmosphere that’s more “haunted adventure” than your average hike.
Spine-tingling stories and folklore along the way…

The Route

Let’s go hiking!

When you sign up for Cleveland 4 Peaks: Trick or Trek, we’ll send you a list of all the must-have gear to keep you safe from both the elements… and anything else that might be lurking in the shadows.

Your checklist for the hike will include essentials like a head torch to light your way through the darkness, and weather-appropriate clothing to fend off any unexpected midnight mists. Sturdy shoes are a must (you never know what you’ll step on in the dark).

We’ll set off at 5:30 pm, conquer the peaks and finish around midnight under a blanket of stars, and maybe a few watchful eyes.

FAQs

Can I dress up for the hike?

Absolutely, let your imagination run wild! Witches, vampires, skeletons, zombies… or perhaps your own terrifying creation! Just remember to keep it practical enough for hiking.

Is the hike suitable for children?

This is a long walk, with some challenging steep sections, with the added challenge of the dark. With this in mind you must be 14+ to complete the walk! Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult or legal guardian.

What should I wear?

We can’t predict the weather, especially during spooky season, so let’s hope for the best but prepare for all scenarios! Lots of layers allow you to find a comfortable temperature throughout the walk; a technical top, fleece, and lightweight waterproof are good go-to items. Anything reflective would be recommended to ensure you’re as visible as possible.

Most importantly, make sure you have some sensible footwear – a pair of walking shoes you’re worn comfortably before, with good grip to tackle the terrain.

Will GNAAS provide headtorches?

No. You must bring your own headtorch. You will not be allowed to complete the challenge without this. Please also bring back up batteries.

How long will the challenge take?

This is a 13.1 mile route and while there isn’t a time limit, it is expected that participants will maintain a reasonable pace and should expect to complete the route in around 6 hours.
