About the Role

Do you enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories that inspire others?

As a Volunteer Community Speaker, you’ll help raise awareness of the Great North Air Ambulance Service within your local community. By delivering talks and presentations to schools, community groups, businesses and supporters, you’ll help people understand the life-saving work we do and the difference their support makes.

This flexible role is based within your local area and is ideal for someone who is confident speaking to groups or keen to develop their presentation skills. Full training, resources and ongoing support will be provided.

Please Note: This is a flexible volunteer opportunity that can fit around your existing commitments. Most presenters volunteer for around half a day per week, although this may vary depending on the number of presentations and events available in your area.

Role description

The purpose of this role is simple: help us share our story, inspire support and save lives.

Responsibilities include:

    • Delivering presentations and talks using GNAAS resources and materials.
    • Promoting awareness of the charity and the impact of our work.
    • Representing GNAAS at community events and cheque presentations.
    • Building relationships with local groups, schools and organisations.
    • Supporting awareness of regular giving, fundraising and lottery initiatives.
    • Working with the Public Liaison Team to coordinate presentation opportunities.
    • Acting as a positive ambassador for the charity within your community.

Essential skills

We’re looking for volunteers who:

  • Have an interest in the work of GNAAS.
  • Are confident communicating with members of the public.
  • Enjoy meeting new people and engaging with community groups.
  • Have basic IT skills and are comfortable using presentation equipment.
  • Are reliable, enthusiastic and approachable.
  • Have access to transport or can travel within their local area.

Previous public speaking experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
