GriefChat is a free online bereavement support service.

We know that no one can understand what your loss feels like to you. But we appreciate that sometimes it can be easier to talk to someone outside of your family and friends about grief and the impact of bereavement on your life. This is why we offer GriefChat.

What is GriefChat?

GriefChat gives you the opportunity to speak with a qualified, professional bereavement counsellor via an online instant chat service.

Created by bereavement experts, GriefChat allows you to chat directly to a specially trained counsellor in a safe space. GriefChat counsellors are experienced in supporting bereaved people and will listen to your story, explore how your grief is affecting you, and help you find any additional support you may need.

GriefChat is a free service and is available Monday to Friday, 9am-9pm. Please be aware Griefchat is a third-party service and not a representative of the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

How does GriefChat work?

The chatbox will pop up automatically on this page, as well as our Giving in Memory, Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm.

You will be invited to have a conversation, should you need to speak to someone.

The support is funded by the Great North Air Ambulance Service, and is free to use.

You can read more about GriefChat’s confidentiality policies on their website.
