Built in 1824, the Stockton and Darlington Railway Company (S&DR) commissioned George Stephenson to design and build the world’s first public railway.

The Locomotion Charity Run celebrates the history of the Locomotion, with a 10  or 5 mile run along the route of the iconic Stockton to Darlington Railway.

It’s an event for participants of all ages and abilities to come together for a great cause and celebrate this historic event.

The Route

Route 1 (10 miles): This route explores the original route of the Locomotion. Starting at Locomotion, through Preston Park onto the Teesdale Way, then to the Old S&DR Ticket office, Boathouse Lane, Stockton. Return via the same route to the Locomotion.

Route 1 entry fee is £15.00 and £7.00 for under 16’s.

Route 2 (5 miles): Starting at the old S&DR ticket office Stockton, onto Teesdale Way and through Preston Park, finishing at the Locomotion.

Route 2 entry fee is £10.00 and £5.00 for under 16’s.

Organised by the Locomotion Hotel, Eaglescliffe, this fantastic event raises fund for the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s life-saving mission.

A contribution of the entry fee goes towards our life-saving mission, and many participants also choose to fundraise.
