The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) attended a two-vehicle crash at Kielder, Northumberland, today.
GNAAS was called to the incident at 8.50am after reports of people trapped.
At the scene, the aircrew doctor and paramedic gave medical treatment to a female driver while Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service worked to cut her free from the wreckage. She had suffered injuries to her leg, pelvis and chest.
Once released, the patient was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 15 minutes where she arrived in a critical condition.
GNAAS worked alongside North East Ambulance Service.
