Walker plunged 300ft down Cumbrian fell


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to reports of a man, in his 60s, who had fallen around 300ft in the hills around the area of Great Gable on Saturday. GNAAS was tasked alongside Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, Coastguard SAR and North West Ambulance Service. Once the patient was located, the GNAAS crew worked alongside Wasdale MRT and the SAR Winchman to assess, treat and prepare the patient for transport to hospital.

Once the patient was located, the GNAAS crew worked alongside Wasdale MRT and the SAR Winchman to assess, treat and prepare the patient for transport to hospital. The man was then winched from the hillside by Coastguard SAR and flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
