Rugby player, 18, airlifted from Penrith


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the rugby club in Penrith where an 18-year-old man was injured in a collapsed scrum. The patient was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew for possible neck and spinal injuries before being flown to hospital in Middlesbrough within 25 minutes.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Saturday.
