Organisers from the Park View Motorbike Festival have handed £1,030 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) which they fundraised at the event.
The festival was organised by Chris, Kyle, Nikki and Kate Grimwood, a family of bikers from the North East, and was held on September 10 at Park View School in Chester-le-street, County Durham.
This is the second year running that they have arranged this family fun event after it attracted hundreds of bikers in 2016.
Chris Grimwood, one of the organisers of the event said: “This event was born from an idea by Kate Grimwood, a sixth form pupil of Park view school, who came up with the idea of holding a motorbike festival in order for her and her friends to raise money for a school trip to Honduras. The festival was a great success and was attended by over 200 bikers and families too.”
This year’s event was held to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and Northumbria Blood Bikes and was attended by more than 400 bikers.
The popular festival featured stalls and entertainment provided by local businesses and gave bikers the opportunity to show off their modern and classic motorcycles in best in class competitions as well as make new friends with those who share their interest in biking.
Chris said: “We decided to hold this again as there are few biker events held in the north east. It seemed logical for the money raised to be given to north east charities. We decided the Great North Air Ambulance and Northumbria Blood Bikes would be the deserving causes this year; each receiving £1030.00. Thanks to North East Motorcycles, Bikedealer4u and all our friends who helped make the event a success.”
Steve Clare, business director at bikedealer4u – a search engine for bikers – was part of the organising team. He said: “It was a great success. It was only the second year and it was a pleasure to support it.”
