North-East bikers on the road for a good cause

A group of North-East bikers have the chance to take part in two challenges to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). Motorcycle group, Boundary 500, have organised the Boundary 500 Challenge – a motorcycle ride around the perimeter of the GNAAS operational area. Ninety three riders have already signed up to the route that will cover nearly 500 miles with stopping locations at: Berwick-upon-Tweed, Whitehaven, Barrow-in-Furness, Skipton and Scarborough. Two wheeled motorcycles and trikes are welcome and riders and pillions have the option to complete the ride over two days. The event will begin at 6am on Saturday 28th June at Kirkleatham Hall, Redcar, where there will be free camping at the end of the ride. Brian Laverick, group chairman, said: “These events provide a great day out for motorcycle enthusiasts while at the same time raising money for the life-saving charity.” The next day, riders will have the chance to participate in the Boundary 500 Classic Challenge, with all two wheeled motorcycles and trikes again welcome. Mr Laverick said: “Because of the ride’s popularity it is now open to all motorcycles irrespective of age.
