Mountain biker critically injured after fall during race in Reeth


A MOUNTAIN biker suffered critical injuries after a fall during a race yesterday (August 7). The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taking part in an event in the Reeth area of Swaledale when the incident happened. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 1:35pm and the doctor-led trauma team treated the man for serious chest and abdomen injuries. The man was then transported to the GNAAS helicopter by Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, before being flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, within 12 minutes for on-going treatment..
