Motorcyclist airlifted after rush hour collision


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and a car on the A19 southbound, near Stockton-on-Tees, at 4pm yesterday. The crew of the charity’s Guardian of the North aircraft was called to assist North East Ambulance Service in treating the male motorcyclist, believed to be in his 40s, for serious leg, arm, pelvic, chest and abdominal injuries. The GNAAS doctor-led aircrew performed roadside surgery to stabilise the patient before he was flown to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, in a flight that took just three minutes.
