Mortgage offer to boost GNAAS funds

Darlington Building Society, the North East region’s only local building society, has launched a new affinity mortgage designed to raise much-needed funds to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

The mortgage offers a very attractive interest rate of just 3.74% and is available to first time buyers, people moving home or others looking to switch their mortgage to get a better deal. The interest rate is a discount from the Society’s standard variable rate of interest until 30 September 2015 and applicants can borrow up to 80% of the property value. Unlike most high loan to value mortgages on the market at present there are no mortgage product fees to pay, no completion fees and borrowers can take advantage of a free property valuation.

In addition to this mortgage product being enticing in its own right, for each mortgage that proceeds to completion, Darlington Building Society will donate £250 to the GNAAS.

Sharon Willetts, Darlington Group Sales Manager based at the Society’s recently refurbished Darlington Tubwell Row branch, said, “Darlington Building Society values its role at the heart of the community and we really appreciate the fantastic job the GNAAS does in our region.”

She added, “Our new affinity mortgage linked to the GNAAS has already proved extremely popular which has come as no surprise bearing in mind its attractive features. It is rewarding to know that not only is Darlington Building Society playing its part to stimulate the local housing market but at the same time the GNAAS is receiving valuable additional funding.”

Mandy Drake, Deputy Director of the Great North Air Ambulance Service said, “We are absolutely delighted that Darlington Building Society has launched this new affinity mortgage product. It costs £4m to keep three aircraft mobile for a year and we rely on donations for the service to continue. Anyone wanting to support the GNAAS while at the same time looking for a great mortgage deal should look no further than Darlington Building Society.”
