Memorial pool competition raises more than £2,000 for GNAAS

The competition, which is in its ninth year, is held in memory of Alan Hogg, who sadly died on September 26 2008 when his motorbike was involved in an accident on the A69 near Hayton.

He was only 30 years old and his sudden death hit his family and many of his friends hard, but also inspired them to do something positive and fitting in his memory.

Alan was a keen supporter of GNAAS, so one of his best friends, Trevor Fox, decided to hold The Alan Hogg Memorial Shield Pool Competition and also a fundraising raffle and auction to coincide with the anniversary of his death and raise money for Alan’s favourite charity.

The ninth competition was held on September 30 at Alan’s local pub, the Bluebill Inn, Brampton, Cumbria, and the winner’s name was engraved on a memorial shield which takes pride of place in the pub.

The entry fee for the pool competition and all of the proceeds from the raffle and auction on the evening went to GNAAS, and in total they raised £2,032.
