A man was airlifted to hospital after falling on sand dunes in Hartlepool.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the Blue Lagoon beach area of Seaton Carew, in Hartlepool, at 8.10am this morning.
The 62-year-old man, from Billingham, suffered significant leg injuries after falling whilst out walking on the sand dunes, an area inaccessible by road.
He was treated by the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew before being airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough in a flight that took six minutes. The patient was stable on arrival.
