Man airlifted after four-vehicle crash on A66


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the A66 after a four-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon. The collision involving three cars and a HGV happened at around 1.15pm at Temple Sowerby. The driver of one of the cars, a 76-year-old man from Penrith, was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team before being flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The driver of one of the cars, a 76-year-old man from Penrith, was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team before being flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening and he arrived in a stable condition.
