At 1:30pm yesterday, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called to the aid of a 3-year-old boy who had fallen around 20 feet from the harbour wall in Staithes, north of Whitby.

GNAAS arrived on the beach within 10 minutes and found him to be in good spirits considering he had fallen such a distance. He was able to answer questions such as “what is your favourite programme?” and told the trauma team it was Peppa Pig.

GNAAS doctors accompanied the boy for observation in a road ambulance and he was stable upon arrival at James Cook University Hospital.
