Heart attack patient airlifted to hospital


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Kirkland, near Penrith, today at around 12.25pm where a man had suffered a heart attack and needed pre-hospital emergency medical care. The 69-year-old was treated by North West Ambulance Service paramedics and the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew before he was airlifted to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, for specialist cardiac treatment. The flight to hospital took just 12 minutes, the same journey by road would have taken around 50 minutes.
