A GOLF day which has raised in excess of £150,000 for local causes will tee off for the region’s air ambulance service.
The Rotary Club of Tynedale golf tournament returns to Prudhoe Golf Club on September 9 for its 25th annual event.
The event has raised money for several local causes over the years, but for the past twenty years has supported the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
Last year’s event raised £3,500 for the charity, which is entirely reliant on donations to survive and which last year flew to 846 incidents.
This year, teams can still sign up, although places are very limited. The cost is £140 and bookings can be made by contacting Tom Kelsey, golf organiser, Rotary Club of Tynedale, on 01434-600372.
There will be team and individual prizes.
Grahame Pickering, chief executive at GNAAS, said: “This event has become one of our longest running and best supported fundraisers and that is only because of the outstanding dedication and generosity of members of the Rotary Club of Tynedale.
“It is exactly this kind of support which allows us to continue to fly life-saving missions in the area. Thanks to all involved and to Prudhoe Golf Club for the use of their fantastic facilities.”
