A Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) warehouse worker’s domination of dominoes continues with yet another title win.
Colin Stainsby, from Darlington, has won the CIU National Dominoes Championship, notching his impressive wins of the title to 13.
The 64-year-old and his domino partner Steve Smith, 63, have been playing together for more than 40 years and their latest win on November 30th saw the pair presented with a CIU trophy and £1,000 cash.
Mr Stainsby, who has three children, said: “I’ll probably buy my wife something – I can’t live without our Sue.
“I got into dominoes with my brother, we used to play on a Sunday night because we never had a TV and I’ve continued ever since.”
The duo took part in their winning match at Darlington Club and Institute, based in Northgate, Darlington and regularly plays at the Grey Horse Inn, Bank Top, Darlington.
They also won the national Fives and Threes competition on 23rd November, beating their components and taking the title a remarkable 15 times.
Despite his recent windfall, Mr Stainsby said he planned to return to work at the GNAAS Trading Company in Newton Aycliffe, where he has worked for more than nine years.
He said: “I love my job. The best thing about it is the people I work with, both the managers and floor staff, we make a great team.”
Judith Woodcock, General Manager at GNAAS Trading Company, said: “Our team are a brilliant bunch and this is just another example of our diverse talents.”
