GNAAS raffle more than halfway to £100,000 target

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) has already responded to more than 1,700 incidents this year and is appealing for the public to take part in their raffle to help them fund more missions.

The charity does not receive government funding and needs to raise £8.5m a year to remain operational.

To help them continue to respond to critically ill or injured people across the region, they have launched their ‘Ready for Anything’ raffle, which has a top prize of £10,000.

There are less than two months left for people to enter, with the draw date on 8 December, and the charity is still £25,000 away from reaching their £100,000 target.

Andy Mawson, director of operations at GNAAS, said: “We are responding to more and more incidents due to the expansion of our service, and we are fully committed to delivering 24/7 care to people in need across the region.

“We strongly believe that everyone should have access to hospital-standard care, no matter what time of day it is, but this is only achievable with the help and support of the public.

“Unfortunately, due to the cost-of-living crisis, raising funds for our charity has become increasingly challenging. One of the ways people can support us is by taking part in our raffle, which has a top prize of £10,000.”

In May 2023 GNAAS celebrated 21 years of providing life-saving critical care, and currently responds to incidents in the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

The charity operates 24/7 in the North East, and four nights a week in Cumbria, with the aim of offering a 24/7 service across the region in the future, which will allow their critical care team to respond to hundreds more patients every year.

To help support their future goals, members of the public can purchase raffle tickets for £1 and be in with the chance of winning either £10,000, a break in the Lake District worth more than £1,000, or £500 in cash.

Tickets can be bought by visiting gna.as/raffle_2023 or calling 01325 487263.
