Elderly Durham man airlifted to hospital after car crashes into field


An ELDERLY Durham man was airlifted to hpsital after his car left the road and rolled into a field at Nenthead, near Alston. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 11:40am on August 18. An 81-year-old man, from Durham, sustained chest and leg injuries and was treated at the scene by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew, alongside North West Ambulance Service paramedics. The man was freed from the car by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service before being flown to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
