Shortly after 9am today the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to assist road paramedics at Ferryhill, County Durham.
A 59-year-old cyclist had collided with a vehicle and sustained serious leg and facial injuries.
The GNAAS doctor and paramedic team assessed the patient and administered strong pain relief before he was transferred to the aircraft.
He was then flown to Middlesbrough, where he arrived in a stable condition. The flight took eight minutes.
