Boy, 13, seriously injured in Cullercoats Bay cliff fall


A 13-year-old boy suffered serious head and leg injuries after falling from a cliff yesterday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Cullercoats Bay, North Tyneside, at 5.20pm where the teenager was reported to have fallen some 20ft. The patient was given a blood transfusion by the doctor-led trauma team and put into an induced coma.

The patient was given a blood transfusion by the doctor-led trauma team and put into an induced coma. GNAAS was assisted by a specialist team from North East Ambulance Service.

He was then flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he arrived in a serious but stable condition.
