Both GNAAS aircraft fly to M6 crash in Cumbria


The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to a serious road traffic accident on the M6 in Cumbria yesterday afternoon. Both the GNAAS aircraft were dispatched to the scene and a 23-year-old male was cut free from the wreckage of a van by Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service before being transported to hospital with facial, leg and pelvic injuries. The patient was flown to the Major Trauma Centre at the RVI, Newcastle. Paramedic, Stuart Thompson, said the incident highlighted the excellent working relationship between GNAAS, North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the rapid response doctors in order to treat those involved in this serious road collision..
