Bikers go Beacon 2 Beacon for GNAAS

At 9.30am on Saturday 1st June 2013 Lee Robinson and Graham Snaith will be the first ever entrants to participate in the latest of the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Groups events, the Coast 2 Coast, also known as Beacon 2 Beacon.

They will be setting off from the Redcar Beacon on 50cc mopeds to travel the 140 miles.

The Coast 2 Coast involves entrants travelling from Redcar Beacon on the east coast to Whitehaven Beacon on the west coast.  Entrants can enter the event at any time during the year to suit them.

Entrants can start and finish at either beacon. They are required to visit a number of locations in between Redcar and Whitehaven.

This is the first Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group event which is also open to pedal cyclists.

For motorcycles, there is a cc limit of 125, or if the motorcycle was registered before 1st January 1960, then the cc size is unlimited.

Brian Laverick, Boundary Group chairman, said: “There is a lot of interest in this latest Boundary Challenge and a number of members are buying mopeds for a mass ride later in September.”

The Deputy Leader of Redcar and Cleveland Council Sheelagh Clarke will be at the Redcar Beacon at 9.30am this Saturday, June 1st, to wave Lee and Graham off.

Mr Laverick added: “The council, who are Boundary Group partners, are very supportive of this event.”
