Beach rescue launched after woman’s horse fall

A woman was airlifted from the beach at Seaton Carew when she fell from her horse while riding on the sands.

The 27-year-old sustained non-life threatening leg and back injuries in the fall.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called at 12.15pm today.

The patient was assessed and treated on scene by the charity’s doctor and paramedic team before being flown to James Cook University Hospital, a journey which took just five minutes.

She was stable upon arrival.
