Air ambulance scrambled after car hits tree


GNAAS was called to reports of a car that had left the road and struck a tree on the A167 near Chester-le-Street at 10am today (Tues 11). A 35-year-old man from Murton, County Durham, was treated at the scene by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team and North East Ambulance Service paramedics.

A 35-year-old man from Murton, County Durham, was treated at the scene by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team and North East Ambulance Service paramedics. He suffered serious leg and pelvis injuries. 

The man who was trapped for some time, was released by fire crews and then taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
