Daniel and Claire Fox, from Spennymoor, are holding a “charity bag drop” and asking for donations of unused clothing in aid of the charity that operates three aircraft across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

Mr Fox works in the RAF as a senior aircraftman and is serving in the Falklands at the moment.

His wife said: “He is a great supporter of the charity and believes the work they do is vital.

“We have had a fantastic response from friends, family and colleagues. We had planned on running the collection until the end of May but Daniel accepted another posting so there’ll be a lot going on around that time. So far I have collected 27 bags and hope to get a few more before the collection date next month.”

GNAAS Trading Company, who has a recycling depot based in Newton Aycliffe are picking up the donated clothing on May 1st.

Judith Woodcock, from GNAAS Trading Company, said: “Recycling with our GNAAS Trading Company is a brilliant way to support the charity without making a direct financial donation. We want to thank the Fox family for organising the charity bag drop in aid of our life-saving service.”

Mr Fox has previously had his chest waxed and held other fundraisers for good causes.
