Two people critically injured in collision


Two people were critically injured in a single vehicle road traffic collision at Ryton yesterday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 2.45pm. GNAAS worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess both patients. The doctor led trauma team administered blood and anaesthetic to a 19-year-old woman who was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

The doctor led trauma team administered blood and anaesthetic to a 19-year-old woman who was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took four minutes and the patient was critical on arrival.

An elderly man was taken to hospital by road.
