Teenager airlifted to hospital after falling from mountain bike


A TEENAGER was airlifted to hospital after coming off his mountain bike on a popular trail. The 17-year-old, from Stockton, suffered an open leg fracture after the fall in Hamsterley Forest, County Durham, on Tuesday, June 23. The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to the scene around 7:51pm. He was treated by the GNAAS team, who worked alongside North East Ambulance Service and members of the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team. The patient was then transferred to James Cook University Hospital in a stable condition. .
