A round-up of missions that the service has carried out in the last week.  Hartside Pass, Cumbria: A 46-year-old woman fell from her bike and sustained serious head and back injuries.

A round-up of missions that the service has carried out in the last week. 

Hartside Pass, Cumbria: A 46-year-old woman fell from her bike and sustained serious head and back injuries. After treatment, she was flown to the Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in 15 minutes. By road, this would have taken around one hour and 15 minutes.

Holy Island, Northumberland: A 47-year-old man sustained serious leg, back, pelvic and arm injuries after falling 80ft. He was anaesthetised and flown to the RVI in 15 minutes. By road this would have taken around one hour and 14 minutes.

Brown Cove, Cumbria: A 28-year-old woman fell into Brown Cove on Helvellyn and suffered head and arm injuries. She was treated and flown to a land ambulance for transport to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team joined the efforts.

Little Strickland, Cumbria: A 14-year-old girl fell from her horse and sustained a head injury. She was treated at the scene by GNAAS, a local doctor and NWAS crew before being flown to the RVI in 20 minutes. By road this would have taken around one hour and 44 minutes.

Kielder, Northumberland: A 52-year-old man became unwell and needed treatment. He was flown to Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital in 16 minutes. By road this would have taken one hour and 17 minutes.

GNAAS worked alongside the ambulance service at all of these call-outs.
