GNAAS has sold more than 100,000 tickets for its annual raffle with three weeks still to go before entry closes.

Anyone wishing to enter the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s draw for a brand new Ford Fiesta has until November 16 to return their ticket stubs or buy online.

With tickets costing £1, the charity has now passed the £100,000 mark. The car was donated by Tyneside engineering firm Roflow, so every penny spent on tickets comes to the charity.

Ruth Davey, of GNAAS, said she hoped they would beat last year’s £115,000 total, when Tyne and Wear pensioner Joyce Charlton won the car.

“We were astounded by the response to last year’s draw, so we are absolutely thrilled that this year’s raffle has been even more popular,” she said.

“We would like to thank all those people who have supported the draw, but remind those who haven’t that it is not too late to enter.”

The draw will take place on December 3, with the car scheduled to be handed over to the winner at Sedgefield Races on the Christmas Raceday meeting, December 11.

The second prize is an overnight stay for two at luxury resort Rockliffe Hall, near Darlington.

Tickets cost £1 and can be bought online at www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/shop or by calling 01325-487263.
