Incidents attended on July 18


We were called to two serious incidents in County Durham and an incident in Kendal: At 8.05am we were called to Durham to assist the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) after a man, believed to be in his 50s, had collapsed at a gym.

At 8.05am we were called to Durham to assist the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) after a man, believed to be in his 50s, had collapsed at a gym. The patient had suffered a cardiac arrest and was treated by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team. He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by the GNAAS team. The journey took six minutes and he arrived in a critical condition.

At 12.30pm we were called to Burtree near Darlington, to assist the North East Ambulance Service after a man, believed to be in his 20s, was involved in a road traffic collision. The patient was assessed by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team before being placed in an induced coma and flown to James Cook University Hospital for ongoing treatment. The flight took 14 minutes and he arrived in a critical condition.

At 2.25pm we were called to the A684, near Kendal, where a man, believed to be in his 20s, who was riding a motorbike, was involved in a collision with a tractor. The man had injured his leg and was assessed by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team before being taken to a trauma unit by the North West Ambulance Service.
