At 9am today the Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to Brampton in Cumbria where an 87-year-old woman had fallen down the stairs, where she had remained in situ overnight. The patient had injured her head and hand. Working alongside North West Ambulance Service, our doctor-led trauma team assessed and treated the woman, who was found not to have sustained any life-threatening injuries. However, she still needed further treatment in hospital and was therefore flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The flight took six minutes and the patient was stable on arrival.
